dc.descriptionThe competency-based approach is the base of the current Curriculum of the Agricultural Engineering Career of the Faculty of Agronomy of the Central University of Venezuela. The objective of the research was to discuss the main challenges and opportunities of the Agricultural Engineering career of the Faculty of Agronomy of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) in the context of the competency-based curriculum, with the purpose of establishing a theoretical basis that allows implement the necessary curricular adjustments for the academic training of future Agronomy professionals, in line with the challenges of the current agricultural field within the framework of globalization, constant technological evolution, the socio-humanistic perspective and sustainability. A documentary study was carried out that provides a general vision of the aforementioned challenges and opportunities. The competency-based approach allows for the comprehensive training of students, with technological literacy being important, the continuous updating of pedagogical and technological competencies by teachers and the offer of training and professional updating opportunities at the postgraduate level, within a framework of educational quality.en
dc.descriptionEl enfoque por competencias es la base del actual Plan de Estudios de la Carrera de Ingeniería Agronómica de la Facultad de Agronomía de la Universidad Central de Venezuela. El objetivo de la investigación se orienta a discutir los principales retos y oportunidades de la carrera de Ingeniería Agronómica de la Facultad de Agronomía de la Universidad Central de Venezuela en el contexto del currículo por competencias, con el propósito de sentar una base teórica que permita instrumentar los ajustes curriculares necesarios para la formación académica de los futuros profesionales de la Agronomía, en consonancia con los desafíos del campo agrícola actual en el marco de la globalización, la constante evolución tecnológica, la perspectiva sociohumanística y la sostenibilidad. Se realizó un estudio documental que ofrece una visión general de los mencionados retos y oportunidades. Como conclusiones se tiene que el enfoque por competencias permite la formación integral de los estudiantes, siendo importante la alfabetización tecnológica, la actualización continua de las competencias pedagógicas y tecnológicas por parte de los docentes y la oferta de oportunidades de formación y actualización profesional a nivel de postgrado, en un marco de calidad educativa.es
